Squirrel Hunting at William G. White Conservation Area - 06/14/02
Below,  A small fishing lake that Buddy and I hunted around...

It was a beautiful day for Squirrel Hunting - Temperature was in the mid-60's and there was a slight breeze.
Buddy did a great job today: He treed 7 times in about an 1 1/2 hours. Unfortunately, with the heavy leaves and dens tree, we only got one squirrel.  I wanted to hunt much longer in the nice weather, but I was breaking in a new pair of boots and I got a dandy blister on one of my heels.
Buddy has been staying with the tree most of the time (he trails around on  the ground sometimes after he trees, but almost always goes back to the tree.)
He's been treeing more 'up on the tree'  than he used to and he's been treeing harder and louder.  He's not perfect, but I think he'll  make a fine hunting dog as he goes through these up-coming fall/winter hunts. He'll be two at the end of September.

Poor Rose had to stay home - she's in heat and did she "chew me out" when Buddy and I got home !
The Next six pics are of Buddy - doing what he likes..

Heading back home: I cross the Mississippi on the Winfield Ferry going back to Illinois from Missouri  (It costs $8.00 round-trip and it runs from 5am till 11pm).
About 10 miles into Illinois I have to take the Brussels Ferry across the Illinois River  (It run 24 hours and is free).  Go figure?

Below, the Winfield Ferry is on the Illinois bank, waiting for this monster string of barges and super-sized tug boat to pass.
